Printed Circuit Board Labels

Printed circuit boards (PCBs) used in electronic equipment withstand some extreme conditions during the manufacturing process. They are exposed to intense temperatures and harsh pressurized solvents, but they have to stand up to such conditions without igniting, blackening, fading, or peeling off. ARMOR thermal transfer print technology is the most reliable solution to meet the challenges of printed circuit board labels.

ARMOR ribbons for the printing of printed circuit board labels remain legible despite all of the stresses they may encounter throughout the life cycle of the finished product, such as UV exposure, humidity, temperature variations, and friction. In addition, ARMOR technology delivers the miniature labels that PCB components require, holding large amounts of data in a small space.

Choosing the Right Materials

Traceability data on printed circuit board labels must remain available for production process monitoring, identification of defective parts, distribution logistics, customer service, and recycling purposes. ARMOR offers inked ribbons that suit all requirements.

  • Quality printing of all types of barcodes (2D, vertical, horizontal, datamatrix), alphanumeric characters, and logos, even on tiny labels
  • Ribbons ideal for printing on synthetic labels (polyester, polyamide, polypropylene, or polyimide) provide superior resistances to abrasion
  • ARMOR offers thermal transfer ribbons that comply with EU Directives 2011/65/EC (RoHS) and 2002/96/EC (WEEE). They also meet restrictions of halogen compounds and the UL standard on printed label durability.
  • Resin inks (the ARMOR AXR® series) with synthetic labels can offer heat resistance to 356°F (180°C) as well as resistance to solvents
  • Wax-based inks are cost-effective for printing high-quality paper labels that withstand scratching and friction
  • ARMOR inks are formulated in accordance with the RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) and the WEEE Directive (2002/96/EC)
