The XR400 reader has been certified for Generation (Gen) 2 compliance by EPCglobal™, an international, not-for-profit standards organization. This high-performing reader provides full support for the increased capabilities offered by Gen 2 such as key performance, capacity, security and RF efficiency advantages. In addition, the XR400’s flexible design insures you have the best performance whether you are deploying Gen 2 tags or migrating from Gen 1 to Gen 2.

One of the most accurate RFID data capture devices available on the market, the XR400 decreases the chance of reader errors, providing you with reliable real-time data throughout your operations. The XR400 is dense-reader mode certified by EPCglobal. The most demanding operational mode in Gen 2, dense-reader mode enables reliable and long read rates in dense RF environments where interference can occur when multiple RFID readers are deployed in close proximity to one another.

Built on an extensible, open architecture and industry-standard Microsoft® operating system, the XR400 reader gives you a platform for hosting-and quickly customizing-productivity-enhancing third-party software tools to support your business operations. For example, you might host an application to direct the flow of goods through your warehouse or quickly adapt a custom application to report the status of automated components, such as forklifts or conveyors.

The XR400 increases productivity through the ability to embed a wide array of software applications. For example, IBM's WebSphere® RFID Device Infrastructure can be embedded in the XR400 to provide a secure, reliable Java platform to streamline logistics, improve inventory management, and provide better visibility of products throughout the supply chain, creating an "intelligent" RFID reader to automate and manage the incoming RFID data. WRDI applications process and filter the incoming RFID data for integration with upstream IT systems, ensuring delivery of critical RFID events to enterprise IT systems. These events can provide sales trend analysis, providing management with the decision-making tools to optimize inventory management - and reduce inventory levels and associated costs.
